The Saw franchise reopens with a new installment this year with the highly anticipated Jigsaw. Ten years after John Kramer’s death, dead bodies start showing up around the city bearing the jigsaw piece cut into their flesh. We quickly learn that there’s a game going on throughout the movie, cutting from the game to the detectives trying to figure out if the game is being orchestrated by a copycat or an accomplice. Morgue workers Logan Nelson and Jigsaw fan-girl, Eleanor Bonneville start to notice a pattern in were the bodies keep showing up and who is at the screen every time shortly leading to a conspiracy about detective Halloran being the person overseeing the game. The game is very well put together with traps for every different outcome the overseer could think of, one in particular is the silo and leg trap used to prevent them from walking right out the front door, the trap is initiated by Ryan who tries to cheat the game and gets his leg stuck in a mechanism that in one wrong move will cut his leg right off with very fine wire. Anna and Mitch get led into a silo, the door shuts and a video plays, it tells them Ryan needs to pull the lever by his leg and “set him free” cutting off his leg and saving Anna and Mitch from being buried alive. After some blood shed he finally pulls the lever and frees himself and the others. I recommend this movie to anyone that likes gore, can appreciate a creative and strategically placed trap and lastly a person that loves a twist ending.
